About

Me

Bio’s are the hardest thing to write, because when you are writing your own, it just sounds weird. Therefore,  I deleted my old one and now, I’m just going to speak from the heart:

I am an artist and naturalist living in Illinois. I’ve gone to school for art and have a degree in graphic design. Right now, I’m studying to be a naturalist and I’m currently a Master Naturalist Intern of Illinois, through the University of Illinois Extension Program. I believe it is a great way to learn local nature on an intimate level. After I learn about nature, I like to paint it…developing an even closer connection. The greatest gift I can share is how to paint nature, so that others can have the confidence to learn on their own. I really believe that everyone can draw and sketch, if someone just shows you how to do it, step-by-step. That’s where I’m at today.

I offer free step-by-step painting lessons because school is very expensive (tuition up 300% in the last 20 years, what’s that all about?!?), many people cannot afford school, so I offer it for free. An artist’s dream shouldn’t be extinguished for the lack of money (or should we say, the lack of someone else making money) but if you’re dedicated, you will find a creative way to make it work.

Now I’m not a hypocrite, I do try to sell original artwork and prints through this site, but to keep this hobby going, I must find a way to afford my art supplies somehow.

I’m in constant awe of the wonders of God’s work and will never run out of subjects to study and paint from in nature. Hiking throughout the seasons in the Midwest provides ample discoveries that I love to share, so join me and let’s paint nature….
