Free Watercolor Sketch Class this Saturday

Saturday April 30, 2011
9am-12pm
Little Red Schoolhouse

Learn how to make a quick, simple, watercolor sketch after a short hike in the woods. This is a free class! Dress for the weather. If it rains we will still hike outside but paint inside. It’s fun and not as hard as you think. I will walk you through it step by step. You do not need to know how to paint or draw to participate, but you do have to be 13 years old and up. Artwork is not judged, all art is good art.
Please visit class page for supply list.

Please note: I do not take photos unless given permission. So if you don’t want to be on the web, no worries!

I’m expecting to see many spring wildflowers…hopefully we can sketch some.

  1. Chris – I took a LONG bike ride on Easter Sunday and took some photos of plants that looked like little umbrellas. Do you know what they were? Also, I took some other photos of wildflowers which I will send to you. I would appreciate it if you could let me know if what I took were the Spring beauties we were looking for last month. Any hope of finding some Jack in the Pulpit on Saturday?

  2. Alanna: The little umbrella description sounds like, May Apple. It has a whorled leaf arrangement which hangs like an umbrella. Later on, a white flower will appear under the “umbrella”. That’s my guess.
As for the Jack in the Pulpit…a very strong possibility! Last year at the LRS I found some on April 22nd. Oh BOY I hope we spot one!!!!
